A split-body study: one side of the body was treated and the other left untreated as a control, so regrowth could be compared against the same person rather than against a baseline photograph. Hairs were counted in a fixed, marked area at baseline and at two follow-up points.
Conducted by
Add the clinic or laboratory, and the month and year
Device
Korabeauticals diode laser handset, 808 nm, up to 25 J/cm²
Participants
48 adults, ages 18–55, Fitzpatrick I–V, with dark terminal hair
Areas treated
Lower legs and underarms. One side treated, the other side an untreated control.
Protocol
8 sessions, one every two weeks, at each participant's highest comfortable energy setting
Measured by
Macro photography of a marked 4 cm² reference area; hair counts at baseline, week 16 and week 28
Assessment
Counts made by an assessor blinded to which side was treated. Comfort rated 0–10 after each session; skin checked for erythema at 24 hours.
